Fusion 360 and Apple Silicon: A Roadmap to Compatibility

logo of Autodesk Fusion 360

Fusion 360, a popular 3D design software, is set to achieve full native support for Apple Silicon chipsets (i.e. M1 & M2) by the summer of 2023. The delay in support is due to the need for 100% compatibility between components from over 100 third-party vendors, including Autodesk. The development teams are working closely with these vendors to ensure that all necessary services are also natively supported.

Fusion 360 is widely used in various industries for 3D design and engineering. It can be used to create 3D models, assemblies, and simulations of products and can also be used to create detailed drawings and documentation.

As a workaround, users can currently run Fusion 360 on the M1 chipset via Rosetta 2, which should provide an experience that is indistinguishable from running it on an Intel-based chipset, if not faster. The software has been certified as 100% compatible, running on M1 chipsets via Rosetta 2.

If you want to access this functionality as soon as possible, you can consider joining the Insider Program. If you have any questions, you can contact Rajkumar.ilanchelian.

In conclusion, while Fusion 360 is not yet natively supported on the new Apple chipset, the development teams are actively working on resolving the issues and ensuring compatibility. They are also working closely with Apple to certify the software for native support on the M1 chipset. We will keep you updated on our progress.
